Ron & Jo Ann Compton

Missionaries to Cuba

Ron and JoAnn, along with their two children,  have been in full time ministry since 1987.   They served as Youth Pastors & Senior Pastors in the United Methodist Church from 1987 until 1994.  In 1994 they felt the Lord leading them to became a part of the Assemblies of God.  Since 1994 they have served as Youth Pastors, Church Ministries Directors, Church Planters,  & Senior Pastors.

In 2006 they were the Executive Directors and creators of the h2o Student Center in Covington, Georgia.  The center ministered to nearly 1000 middle and high school students every weekend for almost two years.  During that time they lead over 500 student to Christ and nearly 40% of them are still serving the Lord today!

Growing up in a church that taught and supported missions gave Ron and JoAnn their first taste of being a Missionary.  The stories of adventure and the miracles of God on the field always stirred their faith and desire to be on the field.  After attending Toccoa Falls College in North Georgia they were even more drawn to missions.

In 1992, Ron was part of a ground breaking mission trip to Russia. The group went into parts of the former Soviet Union that had never seen an American in person. This lead to a second trip in 1993 to Bulgaria where JoAnn had her first experience in Missions. Since then they have both traveled to several countries as God has open the doors: Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Guatemala,  Peru and The Bahamas.  In 1999 Ron was introduced to the place that would capture their heart and become their future destination: Cuba.

Since that first visit, they have made nearly two dozen visits to the Island Nation.  They have taken several groups and individuals into the Country.  They have been instrumental in the building and repair of Churches, the support of a Bible School, and the financial support of several Pastors.  They also have taken countless sets of eye glasses to those who have a prescription but no frames or lenses are available.  Ron and JoAnn feel the desire to help get things ready for the future in Cuba. Today, without a U.S. Treasury Dept. license, it is illegal to travel to Cuba and to preach the gospel.  Someone has to go and make things ready!  The door will open one day and we believe soon.

With their children grown and starting their own lives, it is time for them to move forward with God’s plan for the rest of their lives.
